YuGiOh - Exodia

Updated on November 2, 2012

A Guide to the YuGiOh! Exodia Set

Welcome to our information page on the YuGiOh! Exodia cards. If you're looking for more information on Exodia, are looking to buy copies of the Exodia Set (or missing parts), want to check releases of the cards or just want to see images of the cards, you're in the right place.

The Exodia Cards are some of the most iconic in the YuGiOh! Manga, Anime and Trading Card Game. In the very first episode of the Anime, Yugi, whilst playing against Seto Kaiba using his grandfather's deck, becomes the first ever player to assemble the five pieces of Exodia and therefore automatically wins the duel. Unfortunately, it's the only time Yugi gets to use the Exodia set, as soon afterwards, Weevil Underwood throws the cards overboard on the ship they are travelling on. They get a second anime appearance when a set is used against Yugi in Battle City in the second series.

As usual, based loosely on Egyptian Mythology, (in this case the story of Osiris) Exodia was, according to the back-story, a monster so powerful it had to be split into parts and chained up with magic. There are five pieces of Exodia (Exodia itself, Right Leg, Left Leg, Right Arm, Left Arm) and a player that has all five parts of Exodia in their hand, automatically wins the game.

In the Trading Card Game, the Exodia cards were first released in English in the Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon booster pack - the first English booster, and have been released several times since. Whilst rarely being used in competitive tournament-level play, (with them limited to one copy of each card as they are), they remain hugely popular and highly sought-after by fans.

If You're Buying the Exodia Set as a Gift...

...and don't know much about YuGiOh!, you'll notice that each card has a code - listed below. Usually eBay sellers will give the card code in their listing to show which version they're selling. The original set, with codes beginning 'LOB' for Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon are the most sought after and valuable, both because of their rarity level and age. Most good sellers will, on older cards, also give the card's condition in their listing too. These are technical descriptions used in all card collecting. Look for 'Mint' or 'Near-Mint' for a gift. These are sometimes abbreviated to M and NM in listings.
